She is a well-rounded reporter who has served as a writer, fact-checker, editor and photographer. She has written everything from breaking news to investigative reports, long-form features and explainers about a wide-variety of subjects.
Backed with years of experience working in the print and digital publishing industry, from monthly magazines to daily/weekly newspapers, Falyn is a justice-oriented journalist and sharp storyteller who is committed to reporting truth, contextualizing news, holding power accountable, creating connection, sparking difficult conversations, empowering communities and providing solutions.
Covering a wide range of local, national and international stories over the course of her career, she is particularly passionate about the impact of policy on general well-being. She also has a guilty pleasure for pop culture and its mirror into modern times.
In her spare time, she makes mixed-media journal art and hyperspecific playlists.
She is a proud fourth-generation New Jersey-native living in Hoboken.

ABOUT ME
Falyn Stempler is a Hoboken-based reporter, writer, editor and photographer for hire. She is an experienced news, culture and food writer with all types of stories under her belt, from breaking news to features and investigations at a local, national and international level. She is passionate about creating journalism that contextualizes news in a compelling and creative way.
She has covered a wide-variety of topics including local and state politics, election coverage, mass shootings, climate change, racism and sexism in higher education, health, housing, astrology and esoteric wisdom, cultural cuisine and its history, Israel-Palestine and the Israel-Hamas War, Jewish culture and issues, women's issues from abortion to revenge porn and domestic violence, as well as pop culture, from reality tv to fashion and music, and its intersection with socio-political issues. She has also written numerous features on artists, comedians and musicians.
She received her B.A. in Journalism from Ithaca College, where she minored in Politics with a focus on Native American and Indigenous Studies. In college, she served as news editor and senior staff writer for the college's Pacemaker-winning weekly newspaper, The Ithacan. She also contributed reporting to her home state's Jersey Journal of NJ.com in between semesters. After graduating, she served as New Jersey Monthly Magazine's editorial assistant.
EDUCATION
Ithaca College
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with magna cum laude honors. I also minored in Political Science with a focus on Native American and Indigenous Studies. I served as news editor and staff writer for the Pacemaker-winning newspaper, The Ithacan, where I was awarded the Most Valuable Staff Writer as a freshman.
Livingston High School
I served as the digital editor for our student-run newspaper, The Lance, from 2014-2016. I played for my school's girls tennis team all four years. My final season, I was awarded Best Teammate by my coaches. I was also a member of History Honors Society.
